“The Fear is Innocent”, 50.8 x 139.7 x 3 cm [triptych], oil on soya and beeswax on mirror, 2025

“The Fear is Innocent” has found its way into the permanent collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Jewish Art. Many thanks to Yona Verwer of the Jewish Art Salon and others who curated the show Fallout – October 7 and The New Antisemitism, Philadelphia Museum of Jewish Art.

Interred within a hexagonal cipher of the Star of David, “The Fear is Innocent” (2025) represents both the aperture of spiritual faith as it exceeds rational constraints, and the experience of physical limits on freedom. Conceived as an amulet, this work ultimately expresses the yearning that for those who have been interred against their will; may they like Julian of Norwich (1343 – 1416?), breach their confines with the gift of unlimited redemptive vision.
